Equipment for nuclear power engineering
Since the construction of the first world nuclear power plant in 1952-1954 (Obninsk, Russia) JSC Machine-Building Plant ZiO-Podolsk (JSC ZiO-Podolsk) is one of the leading enterprises to produce nuclear power equipment in Russia. The plant produces and supplies reactor vessels, stream generators, separator-reheaters, high and low pressure heaters for steam-turbine regeneration systems, delivery water heaters, various heat exchangers, ion-exchange and trap filters, pipelines, tanks, modular removable thermal insulation, evaporators, metal control system of reactor vessel and other NPP equipment.
All the NPPs constructed in the USSR are provided with ZiO equipment. Foreign NPPs with water-water power reactors VVER-440 and VVER-1000 in Bulgaria, Hungary, Czechia, Slovakia, Germany, Finland are also provided with ZiO equipment. The plant produces the unique NPP equipment with fast primary natrium reactors BN-350 and BN-600. These are reactor vessels, intermediate heat exchangers "natrium-to-natrium", stream generators. Error-free functioning of this equipment during 25 years proves the right choice of design and production technology.
The plant started to produce primary equipment for the fast reactor of new generation BN-800 (reactor vessel, stream generator, intermediate heat exchanger, separator-reheaters, high pressure heater etc.).
The plant has produced more than 100 stream generators for NNP with VVER-440 reactors and more than 120 for NPP with VVER-1000 reactors which are used in Russia and abroad.
In 1984 the plant started the production of control systems (USK-213, SK-187) which accomplish the intermittent monitoring and inspection of the vessel, bottom, reactor nozzles and provide:
- outer ultrasonic control of vessel, bottom and nipple;
- radiographic control of weld seams in nozzle part;
- outer, inner television and inner periscope inspection of the reactor.
Control systems are installed both in Russian and foreign NPPs.
During last years ZiO produced and supplied the equipment to foreign NPPs with VVER-1000 reactors in the following countries: China (Tianwan NPP), Iran (Bushehr NPP), India (Kudankulam NPP).
ZiO woks continuously to improve the equipment at NPPs with the aim to increase the reliability, economic indicators and life service. Lately, the equipment was modernized at Kozloduy (Bulgaria), Rovenskya (Ukraine), Armyanskaya (Armenia), Novovoronezhskaya, Kolskaya Volgodonskaya, Beloyarskaya (Russia) NPPs. ZiO in collaboration with JSC Rosenergoatom developed and conducted a program on the inspection and modernization of intermediate separation and steam reheating equipment at all Russian NPPs.
The projects on new design of the moisture separator-reheaters, high pressure heaters with VVER-1000 and BN-800 reactors were developed during last years. Field experience of similar equipment and advanced scientific and technical achievements (cyclone separators are used in MSR, and improved chamber-type HPH substituted for header-type). In PGV-1000 stream generators with VVER-1000 reactor there are all the new developments: non-louver separator, new system of feeding water and expulsion, eddy-current testing of header and heat exchange tubes equalizers, low-temperature processing of headers etc. Plant's engineers are working to create the equipment for NPP with VVER-1000 reactors with operation life up to 60 years, the stream generator of new generation developed in collaboration with design office Gidropress.
The plant continually develops the production of new equipment for NPP. It's already developed the production of ion-exchange and trap filters for water treatment systems. The plant also produces the equipment for evaporator systems, new types of heat exchange equipment with spiral-fin tubes surface, bubblers, tanks with volume up to 1000 m3 , eddy-jet condenser for VVER-440 fault isolating system, modular removable thermal insulation for the high and low pressure equipment and pipelines of NPP reactors etc.
In the design there are all the engineering achievements reserved by author certificates and patents. All the unique and advanced technologies are used in the production: longitudinally finned tubes, hydraulic and explosion rolling, deep hole drilling etc.
The main aim in the development and production is to increase safety and reliability of NPP.
